Standard Bleeds
You may wish to BLEED your artwork across hinges and off the edges of your product to show that
the art continues where the eye cannot see. BLEEDS vary according to the material it is being printed
on. Our standard Bleeds are shown below.

Certain issues in the manufacturing process may arise where bleeds are concerned. The table below
describes some the problems that may occur and the suggestions we may give to solve the issue.
Material |
Bleed Issue |
Suggestion |
Vinyl |
Bleed off right and left with full flood ink coverage.
|
Add extra bleed. More ink, means more curing and vinyl shrinkage also shrinks bleed.
|
Vinyl |
Bleeding multiple layers of ink through hinges and/or off edges.
|
Bleeds may have to be toned down in seal areas. Heatsealing machines generally cannot
seal through more than 1 layer of solid ink.
|
Vinyl |
Bleeding metallic inks or stamping foils. |
You need to ask your printing facility if this is possible. Metallic inks/foils
contain metal which in the heat sealing process may actually ignite.
|
Poly |
Bleeding through hinge areas and/or off edges.
Bleeding across areas of sonic welding (poly boxes).
|
We may suggest you cut back your bleeds 1/16" from the center of the
scores or 1/32" away from an edge. When poly products are die-cut, scored
or sonic welded the ink may crack in these high impact areas.
